3rd grade Screen Chomp with vocabulary words

The 3rd graders are learning a bit of geography in Spanish class.  We are using Google Earth to find different paces in the world.  We began with our neighbors to the South, Mexico.  It is the first of many cultural lessons Bannockburn students have in Spanish class.  First we found where we live on the big spinning digital globe, then we found where Mexico is in comparison to Illinois.  If you’ve never used Google Earth before, you should.  It is an amazing way to visualize the world and really understand the distance between places.

Then we learned how to say where someone lives-vive (click the word for pronunciation…it brings you to a Google Translate page, if you click the speaker button you can hear the word pronounced.)
Since we had talked about where we live and where Mexico, we then learned how to say Mexican and how to say American.  We learn through storytelling and the two characters in our stories are Loco, the Mexican dog and Spot, the American dog.  Here are some of our Screen Chomps that we made in order to hear ourselves speaking Spanish and to practice spelling the words correctly, using pictures of Loco and Spot.  Click on the links below to hear us!  Please leave us a comment so we know you’ve visited.
